01 - In a small bowl, thoroughly blend the cream cheese, unsalted butter, dill if using, salt, and black pepper until smooth and evenly combined.
02 - Evenly spread the cream cheese mixture onto each slice of white bread using a butter knife or offset spatula.
03 - Arrange the sliced cucumber in slightly overlapping layers over half of the prepared bread slices.
04 - Place the remaining bread slices, cream cheese side down, over the cucumbers to form whole sandwiches.
05 - Gently press each sandwich and cut into quarters, either as rectangles or triangles. Serve immediately or cover with a damp paper towel and keep refrigerated until serving.
